Motherland is a visceral full bodied dragged up howl of a show exploring nationalism, identity and our ability to speak out.

Some people say it’s about British values. Some people say it’s not about intolerance, it’s about not tolerating intolerance. Some people say they don’t mind change but it’s happening too fast.

And what do you say? In Motherland Jo Tyabji unapologetically reclaims the voices of politicians, you-tubers, British Indians and OCIs. In an era of India Rising and people Taking Back Britain, this is a show that asks: who are you, first?

Motherland is created and performed by Jo Tyabji (My Name Is My Own – Southbank Centre, What’s Far is Near – Southbank Centre, Lovely Ugly City – Almeida).

Produced in association with Milk Presents (BULLISH, JOAN) and supported by Arts Council England, In Good Company, The Bush and Battersea Arts Centre.
