Creative Writing classes are proving a big hit not just with the students who signed up, but with the course tutor. Author Julie MacLusky has found running the writing group at the Cube has been a revelation. Julie says ‘I cannot believe how much I love meeting with these students. They actually want to write, and love writing. I feel more like a mentor than a tutor. Each week they bring in work (often generated by in-class exercises) that are often better than anything I saw in years as a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at University.
It maybe because the Cube has the power to attract people who just love to write, who want to be there, and who love trying to make their writing better. There are no deadlines, no assessments, no schedule: simply a group of people eager to develop their work. In 21 years of University work I never imagined that I would encounter such enthusiasm or innate talent.’
