Although Jake Pearson is only 19 years old he has already had several years catering experience behind him as well as his most recent achievement – Level 3 in Patisserie which he has completed recently at the Heart of England College. Jake says that he had an inspiring tutor who challenged the students and made them work hard to achieve really impressive results.
The final challenge for his award was a 5 hour marathon where he had to produce Croissants, Sachertorte, Pain au Raisins and Florentines to a high enough standard to satisfy the examiners.
Jake works full-time at the Cafe at the Cube and makes all the desserts and mouthwatering cakes on display. One of his signature dishes is Apple Strudel which requires space and dexterity for the delicate pastry manipulation required. He can also make a mean Pork Pie – so please go along and try out some of his creations soon!
